Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps

I recently tried Snack Factory's Pretzel Crisps when a neighbor and friend brought them to my party with some hummus. The original pretzel was quite delicious and unique to me. It wasn't too salty, and, although it was more flat like a cracker or chip, it was incredibly crispy and crunchy. Discover the nutritional facts and other varieties available for this product by reading my review. .

I've tried the original Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps and the "Jalapeno Jack" varieties of this product. I am anxious to try the "Everything" flavor as well as the "Sesame" flavor. There are about a dozen varieties of Pretzel Crisps.

Packaging and Appearance

The packages are thick plastic-type bags with a resealable top to keep the product fresh. The original comes in a light blue colored bag and the Jalapeno Jack in a light green package.

The Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps are available for purchase online and at a number of retailers, but not all varieties are available at some of the grocery stores I have checked. Online the 7.2 ounce package sells for $3.49 and the 14 ounce bag for $4.99 for many of the flavors (at the time this article is being written).

Flavor and Texture

The Pretzel Crisps are shaped like a pretzel but flat. The original Pretzel Crisps are the same color as a "normal" pretzel and have more of a pretzel taste to me than a cracker taste, although I can detect the blend of both. It looks as though a normal rounded thin pretzel has been ironed flat. The snack has just the right amount of salt for a well balanced flavor.

The Jalapeno Jack flavor is delicious. It is a touch spicy, but not overwhelmingly so, in my opinion. A few others have tried this variety and think it is a bit too salty, but I don't personally think it is. Others who have tried it love it equally plain as well as with some type of dip.

I think my favorite thing about this product, aside from the delicious flavor, is the crunch it has. It is very crispy and satisfying. It is perfect for hummus and other dips, even those that are thicker, because it is shaped to hold the dip without it sliding off, like a regular rounded pretzel, and strong enough to scoop through the dip.

Nutritional Information

One serving of the original Pretzel Crisps is about 11 crackers, or 28 grams (about one ounce). There are 100 calories per serving and no fat or cholesterol reported. There is 330 mg of sodium (about 14% of the daily recommended intake), 3 grams of protein, and 23 grams total carbohydrates (1 gram fiber and 2 grams sugar). There are little to no other nutrients provided for this food, but it's a great alternative to regular crackers or chips.

Ingredients for the original are: Wheat Flour, Sugar, Salt, Malt Syrup. The Jalapeno Jack flavor contains: Wheat Flour, Seasoning (Salt, Whey, Buttermilk [Cream], Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Monterey Jack Cheese Powder [Cultured Pasteurized Milk, Salt, Enzyme], Jalapeño Powder, Spices, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Citric Acid, Parsley, Lactic Acid, Disodium Inosinate & Guanylate, and less than 2% Silicon Dioxide Added to prevent Caking), Soybean Oil, Sugar, Salt, Malt Syrup.

Both varieties contain wheat and are made in facilities that process milk and soy, so those with allergies need to be aware of this.

I am not sure but I think that one major health benefit is that they can absord excessive stomach liquids, just like rusks or crisps, isn't it?
